The Milky Bars Nightmares are on me!

This is our first look at a new storyline for Jayden and Crusader. Unlike the Computer Revenge storyline this one will build slowly and hopefully blend into the regular goofy storylines I like. Probably this storyline will take a year to mature, maybe longer. We’ll take it one step at a time.

You see dear readers making Jayden and Crusader isn’t hard but it does take will power. If I have a script written down and complete I have little inclination to draw it. It is due to the fundemental nature of what I do. J&C is a way of telling a story but unlike a novel or a TV show it takes 3-5 hours work to portray 12 sentences of dialogue. If I can’t trick myself into thinking the drawing part of doing the comic is the same part of the process as the writing part the inclination to do a comic slowly trails away into nothing. As we have seen many, many times.

So yeah, this story. Because the storyline which would have introduced Kat was dropped we haven’t heard or seen much of her past. I have referenced how she was meant to enter and I mentioned in passing her origins not to mention going into some detail on her psychosis. But Kat is still somewhat of an enigma. While I’d always intended her to be a love interest for Crusader her personality changed a lot from when we first saw her to how she was written for the big 100 storyline. She’s got a child like view of the world, lots of raw emotions and casual optimism.

I wonder why.

I guess we’ll find out.

This was great fun to draw and surprisingly easy to colour. It came together very quickly, mostly due to a lack of backgrounds and especially complex staging. It originally had creepy, leering doctors but I cut them as it is even more frightening without.
