This is the longest page in J&C history with a full 9 panels. Who’d a thunk I’d ever do a 9 paneller. Not me. However when it came to this fight I said to myself “I can never do this with six panels. And if I try, it’ll spread out over a dozen pages and I’ll get bored. And stop doing J&C for a while. And then lose all my readers.” and thus the 9 panel solution presented itself. It was possibly going to be the first page since the illusive page 61 to not be based on the old six panel frame work, as all other panel numbers are made by chopping the old one up and moving it about, stretching it a bit, but I managed to get it to work. Woo hoo.

This is one of those illusive ‘experimental’ comics I occasionally do and mention from time to time as something I am a bit afraid of doing in case the gamble fails and you all run away. This one came out pretty well, but to me there are a lot of problems, the anatomy’s off, the models are a little off, poor Kat has a very stumpy looking leg in panel 5 but even so I think this is a gamble that paid off. Hopefully you do as well.

Oh, and as an interesting anecdote rather than my usual method of writing a script first this page was sketched at the same time as scripted so some panels got art before words and others words before art. This means the massive visual pun in this page is entirely unintentional. It just happened because the art of her kicking was in my head, and then on the page, first, because I needed Computer out of the house for the next page, and then came the arse kicking line. Amazing how well that worked out. The good news is even if I am not being funny, the brain is working on ahead and making my jokes for me.

Oh, and I consider this to be Kat’s crowning moment of awesome. Anyone disagree?
