Humor an Old Man

Rating 4.60 out of 5

Pointing out your daughter is crushingly lonely? Not cool Karl.

Please Vote for an Alternate Version of Panel 6

I should point out the vote incentive comes into effect at midnight in the American Pacific, so about 8AM GMT.

This is one of my favourite Jayden and Crusader pages, hell, I think its my all time favourite. There are a couple of things I would change (like Jayden’s hair looking like a hat in panel 5) but I like almost everything, and it’s one of my favourites.

Considering I don’t think I’ve said that about any other Jayden and Crusader page (the previous ones have all been fan favourites) I think that gives this one a nice boost.

Although, all that said, I am not sure you’ll get this one. I think it’s one of those “you either get it or you don’t” comics. And if you read too much into it, you might miss the point slightly.

Also if you reach any of the same conclusions that Jayden’s Dad did, I am welcome to hear suggestions.

I just might ignore any and all of them.

Also, following the fact that Jayden is an American, and a girl, she should probably call her father ‘daddy’ but as this is the most annoying word ever uttered by someone older than five, it was changed to Dad. I don’t know how prevelent it really is, but every American teenage girl on TV seems to call her Dad Daddy and it drives me bananas.

An interesting note, Karl calls himself an old man, despite, according to my character sheet (that I made to keep track of the who, what, wheres) is only 40, so not that old. His wife, Martha, is 42, and Jayden was born while Karl was still in college.

So you know, Jayden was not an ‘accidental’ birth. Martha’s parents were affluent enough for Martha to both complete college and raise a baby without too much difficulty, and Karl was then able to support them fully once he graduated as well. True enough, Jayden was born to some very young parents, but they weren’t out of wedlock, and they wanted a child. And after 20 years of marraige, I guess the bond between them held

Blah blah blah… I do ramble on don’t I? I guess I just make up these little back stories and never seem to find a way to fit them into the comic (though bits might) so I tell them here. Oh well, someone might enjoy them.

Third won, by the way, in his battle against the ant-eater(s?)
